Overview
Turkey is currently enjoying a property boom and it doesn’t just
involve overseas buyers. Until recently only the more affluent in
Turkish society owned property as mortgages were not available, but
this has changed and the Turks are taking full advantage of the
opportunity to buy their own homes. There is also a significant
shortfall of property in Turkey so the rental market is buoyant,
especially in the cities.
Istanbul is just about the
richest cultural mix to be found anywhere in the world. East literally
meets west via the bridge on the Bosphorous and there is something for
everybody. If you can’t find it here, it probably isn’t available!
Formerly
home to the Byzantine and Ottoman empires, Istanbul is crammed with
historical treasures, including the Hagia Sophia, a church first
dedicated in 537 by Emperor Justinian before the Turkish invasion when
it became the chief mosque in the Ottoman Empire, plus the hub of the
Empire, the Topkapi Palace, one of the most lavishly decorated and
opulent in Europe.
There are too many historical
must-see buildings to list and it is worth researching the city prior
to visiting to maximise the time available. From the oldest Turkish
bath in the world, the oldest (and once the largest) shopping mall to
the Waterside Istanbul Modern, a new art gallery, the trendiest and
most sophisticated nightclubs, restaurants, bars and of course, coffee
bars. It’s all here.
There has never been a better time
to buy in Istanbul as the current rate of capital growth is even
outstripping the coastal areas, which is hugely significant as they are
performing very well. There are different property options in Istanbul,
for those who are merely seeking an investment and do not intend to use
the property for themselves and a second option is a city centre
apartment for those who want to enjoy the vibrancy and cultural mix of
Istanbul for themselves. We are able to cater for both requirements
with a couple of outstanding projects that have undergone our rigorous
inspection, ensuring they tick all the right boxes before inclusion in
the portfolio.
