Overview
The southern Costa Blanca has some of the most beautiful beaches and
countryside you could ever wish to see. The old fishing port of
Torrevieja still retains much of its original charm and character,
having its own harbour and fishing fleets. It also has some of the most
beautiful EEC blue flag beaches in Europe, varying from long stretches
of fine sand to undiscovered bays with rugged cliffs and secluded sand
dunes.
The nearby Las Salinas salt flats, dating back to
the 12th century, draw moisture from the air making a unique
microclimate. Many people suffering from arthritis, rheumatism and
asthma have commented that their condition is
greatly improved.
With
many historic sights, Alicante is definitely one of those places to
return to time and time again. La Rambla, lined with palm trees and
running at right angles to La Explanada is the hub round which
Alicante’s daily life revolves.
