Calabria - Italy

Overview

Calabria is Italy’s southernmost region and is home to our very first developments in this wonderful country. Very popular with Italian holidaymakers, the delights of the sun-drenched deep south are only now being discovered by the rest of us.

Unspoiled, idyllic and one of the best-kept secrets in Italy, Calabria is one of the most beautiful parts of the whole country, with perfect weather all year round and a relaxed, very Italian way of life. Calabria is right next to fascinating Sicily too and trips via ferry to Messina are quick, cheap and convenient.

Offering superb value for your euros, a little money in Calabria can go a long way. Our Calabrian properties are the best value for money around and with Headlands' experience and expertise we guarantee that buying your home in bella Italia will be easy and stress-free. Our new developments are close to the town of Bianco on the south eastern Calabrian coast. Here you have the breathtaking Aspromonte National Park, as well as sites of ancient Greco-Roman ruins, perfect sandy beaches and the clearest aquamarine seas in Italy very close at hand. Incredibly, there is also a growing skiing industry in Calabria. Combine all of this with glorious southern sunshine and it makes Calabria an undiscovered paradise.

Getting There

Travelling to Calabria is both easy and affordable. Both Ryanair and Easyjet have cheap flights to Rome where you can make a connection to the Italian airline, Alitalia which flies several times daily to two airports in Calabria: Reggio Calabria and Lamezia Terme. The flight time from Rome to Calabria is only one hour and all flights and transfers can be booked online.

Flights with budget airlines arrive at Rome Ciampino airport, while flights from London Heathrow with Alitalia and British Airways, departing from Heathrow and Gatwick, arrive at Rome Fiumicino airport. Ryanair fly to Rome Ciampino airport from Tees Valley, East Midlands, Glasgow, Liverpool, London Luton and London Stansted. Easyjet fly to Rome Ciampino from Belfast, Newcastle, Bristol, East Midlands and London Gatwick. British Airways fly to Rome Fiumicino from London’s Heathrow and Gatwick airports.

Alitalia also fly from London Heathrow to Rome Fiumicino and on to Reggio Calabria and Lamezia Terme. Flights with Alitalia to Calabria can cost as little as 57 euros, depending on when
you book and what time of year you are travelling. Since February 2006, Ryanair now offers direct flights to Lamezia Terme in Calabria from London Stansted – great news for those in the south of the UK! Lamezia is about 136 km from Reggio di Calabria. Perhaps it won’t be long before others follow suit!
